Team members are happy and Customers are pleased after a successful start-up to our first railroad in Florida.
The Jacksonville Port Terminal Railroad (JXPT) officially began services on March 8 as our 37th short line railroad. The 10-mile line interchanges with the Norfolk Southern and the CSXT, providing the Customers at The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) with service Monday through Friday.
Four Customers are being served by rail at the Port; commodities shipped include automobiles, chemicals, farm and food products, intermodal containers, and pulp and paper.
Team members providing service to the JXPT Customers are General Manager Tim Hurse, Roadmaster Billy Gathright and Trainmen Adam Crider and James Smithson.
“We met with some Customers after startup to get feedback and they were very pleased with the quality and timeliness of the service we provided,” said JXPT General Manager Tim Hurse. “Things went smoothly, without any hiccups, and our team is excited to be serving customers in Jacksonville.”
